This year's annual Barnstorm production was the thirteenth at May Hill, after nearby Taynton House became unavailable as a summer venue. However, May Hill Hall itself was no stranger to theatre workshops, as many non-residential Playback productions had been performed here, starting way back in Christmas 1989.

The first May Hill show, "Nuts & Bolted", took place in a glorious spell of hot sunny weather, enabling it to be performed al-fresco (samba band and all) in the garden of Jordan's Place. Then, as now, the directors included Jo and Tessa with Jez in charge of the music. Several of the players in the show, such as Tom, Flo, Harry and Jess, are still involved today with Barnstorm, now as production members.

In 2000 Barnstorm produced a CD of the best songs from previous productions including "Taking the Plunge", first performed at Taynton in 1993 and then revived at May Hill in 2002. Click the CD link above for more info.
